2008 Laptop Workshops
There will be 2008 Laptop Workshops available for new students during Orientation sessions, in early August, and during move in weekend. The link to sign up for a workshop will appear here by June 1. You will need your Clemson user name and password.
Recommended Windows Laptops
Workshops for recommended Windows laptops will be optional this year. The instructions will be posted on the desktops. Any student who is comfortable printing, reading, and completing all of the instructions in the "Read This First" link does not need to attend a workshop. Students are also welcome to attend a workshop if they are having any difficulties or feel more comfortable with having some hands-on instructions!
Apple Laptops
There will be separate workshops for Apple laptops. Students with Macs need to attend a workshop to get the software image installed on their laptops. They should back up any data first since their hard drives will be erased. After the software image is applied, there will be some instructions on using laptops at Clemson.
New Students with Other Kinds of Laptop
If new students have another kind of laptop, they are encouraged to bring it by the CCIT Support Center any time Monday-Friday 8 AM- 5 PM all summer for software setup and instructions. Some parents drop the laptop off (with the power supply!) on the first day of their summer orientation and have the students pick it up and receive instructions after course registration on the second day. No sign up is required - just stop by.
Again, early preparation is not mandatory - but for students who do have their laptops it is nice to have this step taken out of the many things they have to be concerned with when they first arrive!
