Information on CCIT-Provided File Space

CCIT provides two secure and highly redundant file storage locations for faculty, staff and students.  Home directory storage (U: drive) provides students and employees space for personal data.  This data is only accessible by your user ID and comes default with an 10GB quota (some increases available by request).  Group storage (H: drive) provides shared departmental storage with highly customizable access for multitudes of users and groups.  Users can access these network storage locations using the directions in CCIT’s knowledge base here: https://ccit.clemson.edu/support/kb/?id=526.

Contact the CCIT Service Desk or your local support for additional information or help managing these directories.

Restoring files

Home directory systems are backed up every 6 hours.  Group storage systems are backed up nightly.  Restores from these backups are available for 6 weeks (42 days).  Requests for data older than 42 days cannot be fulfilled.  Specific locations (server, path and filenames) of requested restoration data greatly increases the turnaround time for such requests.  If users are not able to provide this information local support should be involved to assist.

Restore requests must be made by the user or department owning the data. Users can request a file restore by email ITHelp@clemson.edu.
