“We’re proud to develop the official Clemson University Alexa Skill that answers real questions from students, employees and members of the Clemson community,” said Sam Hoover, director of CCIT’s Mobile Innovation Team. “This is also just the beginning, as we’re exploring future integrations, functionality and more uses for the Skill on campus.”
Three student workers on CCIT’s Mobile Innovation Team coded the entire Alexa Skill over the course of eight months. Ben Godfrey, Chris Lambert and Hayden Riewe helped work on the project as a three-student team.
“It was a great learning experience. It was my first time learning the Go programming language, which will help me in my career development as well,” Riewe said. “It’s also really cool to see your work published for everyone around the world to use.”
You can add Clemson University’s Official Alexa Skill to your Amazon device for free through the Skills Store. Search “Clemson University” or click here and enable the skill to your Amazon device for free. Though the Clemson University Alexa Skill will work anywhere, Amazon devices must be connected to the resmedianet network to function at Clemson.
