Clemson firewall enabling ‘prevention’ mode on September 19

Staff, Office of Information Security
September 12, 2022

On Monday, September 19, 2022, CCIT will be enabling a “prevention mode” on the Clemson firewall systems.

What’s happening?

CCIT will be making some changes to Clemson’s inbound internet traffic. A new prevention mode in our firewall systems will be used to block known threats, as well as provide additional protection for our critical systems. This is the first of several changes that will be made to the firewall systems. These changes were initiated by the Clemson University Office of Information Security in an effort to help protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the University’s IT Resources.

What does this mean for you?

This will create a significantly safer experience for the Clemson community overall and you will likely not even notice the change. No action is required on your part, but there is a small chance that application or system connectivity could be affected. If you experience an issue or need assistance, please contact the CCIT Support Center. You can contact the CCIT Support Center by email at ithelp@clemson.edu, phone/text at (864) 656-3494, chat at support.clemson.edu, or by visiting us on the second floor of Cooper Library.
