Jeff Denton began employment with Clemson University in 2008 as a student employee with Clemson’s IT Help and Support team. Upon graduating from Clemson in 2011, with a BS in Computer Science, he was rehired as a Systems Programmer to support Clemson’s Palmetto Cluster and write software for OrangeFS and Hadoop distributed systems. In 2014, Jeff became the primary system administrator of Clemson’s dedicated, Hadoop-based computing cluster, now called the Cypress Cluster. In September 2015, Jeff transitioned to employment with the CITI group of CCIT as the Deputy Director of Data Science. While he continues to be a very active system administrator of both Palmetto and Cypress Clusters, additionally, he assists the Director of Data Science with outreach, training, and research support initiatives. His research interests are distributed systems, storage, cloud computing, and programming languages.
