More Information

CCIT strongly advises against devices with Fusion drives, and ethernet capability is strongly encouraged. Mac users should purchase the Apple branded USB-C to ethernet adapters. Student Mac users should also consider purchasing Accidental Damage Coverage. Departments needing to purchase computers for faculty, staff or departmental labs should at least adhere to the above recommendations to get the best performance when running campus or specialized departmental software. For more information, contact CCIT Help Desk (656- 3494), your IT consultant, or visit laptop.clemson.edu to view current hardware recommendations.

Netbook/Tablet Recommendations

The popularity of mobile devices has grown and CCIT recognizes the usefulness of devices such as Netbooks, Tablets (iPads, Venue, Note, etc.), and Mobile devices. Most mobile devices should NOT be considered a primary computer replacement. Low powered devices should be limited to running low resource functions such as web applications, simple word processing, and general email viewing. See minimum hardware recommendations above. Visit http://www.clemson.edu/mobile to get Clemson’s official mobile app my.Clemson and learn more about mobile computing on campus.

Students: No need to bring a printer, campus-wide printing is now available!

Clemson has implemented a program called PawPrints, which allows students to print at any printer located in a CCIT computer lab on Clemson’s campus and select off-campus locations. Download the software and view instructions for installing on your device by clicking here. It’s even available for your mobile device!

Employee Printing

Print services for faculty and staff are now managed by Ricoh to provide optimized solutions at the lowest possible cost. The university utilizes PaperCut as the standard for print queueing, monitoring, and tracking. Departments that need to purchase a new printer or multifunction device can do so by placing an order through BuyWays. New devices will be tagged and serviced by Ricoh.
