CITI offering funding for Supercomputing 2017 conference
Public Information Coordinator
September 22, 2017
The CITI group is offering to cover costs of registration and travel for students and faculty to attend Supercomputing 2017, being held this year in Denver, Colorado, from November 12 to 17. We encourage researchers across all areas in social and natural sciences, engineering, and humanities at Clemson University to apply.
This is part of CITI’s outreach efforts to encourage new research enabled by large scale computing resources and big data analytics.
Supercomputing is attended by experts in high performance computing, networking, storage and analysis from academia and industry, and by researchers that use large-scale computing to solve problems in various domains in science, engineering and humanities. The conference schedule can be found at at the SC17 website here.
This is an excellent opportunity for Clemson University faculty and students to gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies in large-scale computing, and to network with researchers and vendors from a broad range of disciplines.
Funding is available to cover travel and conference registration costs including technical program, workshops and exhibit hall. Lodging and other expenses will not be covered. Please see access to various conference activities at the SC17 website.
Specifically, each award will include:
- The entire registration fee ($315 per student or $740 per faculty) if registered by Oct. 15. This will include access to the main technical program, workshops, and exhibit floor (tutorial passes are not included).
- A maximum amount of $500 per awardee to cover travel expenses to Denver, Colo. and back.
Available funding will be allocated to students and faculty in a 2:1 ratio. Only faculty may submit an application for themselves or for their students for this travel support. There are three support options:
- Funding for one faculty
- Funding for one or two students
- Funding for one faculty and one student.
To apply for funding, please fill out the following application form: https://goo.gl/FJSshD before October 4th, 2017.
A g.clemson.edu email address is required to fill out this form. If you have not used your g.clemson.edu account before, please follow the instructions on our Support page to access this account.
If you have any questions, please contact Linh Ngo at email@example.com.
The recipients of this travel support award agree to attend an informational meeting prior to SC17. They also agree to participate in a post-conference survey and to provide a short essay describing their experience at SC17.
