The Novell Client workstation software extends the capabilities of Linux and Windows desktops by providing access to NetWare® and Open Enterprise Server (OES). Once installed on workstations, Novell Clients enable users to enjoy the full range of Novell services such as authentication via Novell eDirectory™ network browsing and service resolution, and secure and reliable file system access—all delivered through industry-standard protocols.

Novell's Netware Client is site licensed for all current faculty, staff, and enrolled students of Clemson University. Please do not distribute this software to users outside these groups.  Novell's Netware client allows you to connect to the campus file servers. We strongly recommend its use only for campus users.

MacOS and Linux users are encouraged to use Native File Access (NFA) to access Netware drives.

License Information

This product is generally distributed as a standalone site license. This means any Clemson user may use this software.

Versions of this software are available on: Windows. You may have to check with the vendor about the availability of other versions.

Installing On Windows

  • Option 1: Students can download and install CCIT Software Center here. Novell Netware Client will be available in the list of installable applications once CCIT Software Center is installed and has initialized. Note: The initialization process can take some time and will continue in the background once CCIT Software Center is launched. Applications will show up in the list of available software as this background initialization proceeds.
  • Option 2: All users can open Windows Explorer (My Computer) and copy \\software.clemson.edu\software\Novell Client into the address bar. If prompted for a username and password, try "campus\username" (no quotes; note the backslash), where username is your Clemson University username. Use your Clemson password. Once connected, check the Documentation folder for additional installation information, like license server names and port numbers. Note: If you are off campus, you will have to be logged into VPN before you will be able to connect to the Software Repository.
