Individual Licenses

SAS

Vendor SAS Institute

SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is a software suite developed by SAS Institute for advanced analytics, business intelligence, data management, andpredictive analytics.

License Information

This product is generally distributed as a keyed standalone license. This means users will have to obtain a key or serial number either from IT or the vendor before installing and using the software.

Versions of this software are available on: Windows. You may have to check with the vendor about the availability of other versions.

Purchasing SAS

SAS/PC may be licensed only to Clemson University faculty, staff, and registered students. Clemson University is gifted the SAS software through a licensing agreement SAS Institute has with the Watt Family Innovation Center. As such, there is no cost for this software (the cost was previously $75 per year, per user). Licenses are in effect from December 15th to December 14th of the following year. A license can be obtained at any time. Upgrades are also free of charge.

To obtain a copy of the SAS license, please complete the SAS license agreement and contact the CCIT Helpdesk at ithelp@clemson.edu. This agreement is to specify which version of SAS you wish to use, whether you are installing for the first time or upgrading, and verifies that you agree to the SAS licensing terms. This is necessary to track usage of the license. This form was also previously used to specify payment information, though this is no longer the case.

License Agreement

If you have a laptop or a personal machine, you can bring it to the Support Center on the 2nd floor of Cooper Library to have SAS installed. In the case of departmental machines, a college consultant will install the application after the agreement has been submitted.

For technicians: Please note that once the agreement is filled out, you may start installing the software IMMEDIATELY. No further verification is required other than just having the agreement form. They are only used for documentation purposes and require no further approval.

To renew an already-installed version of SAS, either run the new license file just like a SAS job (if done before the expiration date) or use the renew SAS installation option in the SAS group folder with the new license file (after the grace period). The grace period lets you run SAS past the licensed period to allow for problems with slow billing processes. In some cases, it may be necessary to uninstall and reinstall brand new SAS media in order for the license to work properly.

Licenses for this software are available without purchase if you meet any license restrictions.

You can also purchase a license for this software from CCIT by visiting the Helpdesk on the 2nd floor of Cooper Library or sending an email inquiry to ithelp@clemson.edu.
